Barcode ShmarCode
Barcode Shmarcode is a new contest being introduced for ShmooCon 2009. The idea is simple - Find the coolest, l33t3st, most outlandishly "h5ck3r" way to print out your ShmooCon ticket confirmation barcode. The only rule is your barcode has to scan and it has to be YOUR unique barcode. Winners will be granted bragging rights and maybe even a neat prize (okay, definitely a neat prize).
All barcodes will be judged by the following credentials:
- Originality
- Best use of theme
- Best use of materials
- Most error free scan
The contest registration and judging are concurrent with ShmooCon check-in. We encourage all ShmooCon atendees to compete. Questions can be directed to shmarcode@shmoocon.org.
This contest is brought to ShmooCon thanks to the efforts of DC949. Last year, the DC949 crew took it upon themselves to create a custom ShmooCon ticket in the form of an airplane boarding pass. It looked awesome (see below) and it scanned the first time. We thought it was so cool, we gave them prizes just for being so k-rad. In turn, they've decided to run with it and make it a contest this year. The DC949 crew is helping with the judging, so make sure your submission is cooler than their boarding pass lest you get mocked mercilessly.
FYI, the barcode is a Symbol LS2208 laser hand scanner. That's the reference scanner and what your entry must be able to be scanned by.
