The bad news: Some of the original discount parking passes we received were faulty. Sorry for the hassle you may have experienced trying to use them.
The good news: We have new discount tickets that drop the rate to $20 for self parking.
What you need to do: Hotel guests: nothing - The hotel says it will adjust the rate for you automatically. Commuters: Come to registration to get a new discount parking ticket. The new, correct card has a 2011 date on it and says $20.

ShmooCon 2012 Keynote - Peter Gutmann

ShmooCon and The Shmoo Group are pleased to announce this year's keynote speaker: Peter Gutmann.
Peter Gutmann is a researcher in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Auckland working on design and analysis of cryptographic security architectures and security usability. He helped write the popular PGP encryption package, has authored a number of papers and RFC's on security and encryption, and is the author of the open source cryptlib security toolkit and an upcoming book on security engineering. In his spare time he pokes holes in whatever security systems and mechanisms catch his attention and grumbles about the lack of consideration of human factors in designing security systems.

Just a reminder to make your hotel reservations if you haven't already. Reservations can be made online or by calling 1-800-HILTONS and referencing "The Shmoo Group" or "ShmooCon". AN IMPORTANT REQUEST: If you have booked your room at a different rate outside of our block please EMAIL US your name and/or reservation id. This will allow us to get credit for your room towards our room block. We'll be mentioning this to you again in the days to come but the more names we get now, the better. In other news: The schedule and speaker info have now been posted. Take a look! And we still owe you that post about ticket sales. We haven't forgotten.
